Waste Water Recycling

Known as “Grey Water” this is the collection of waste water from baths, showers and wash hand basins. Waste water from kitchen sinks and dishwashers is not usually used as this normally contains too many contaminants. The water is collected to suitable tanks, treated through a series of filters and pumped to the W.C. cisterns within the building.

The tank storage capacity is kept as small as possible to ensure a fast turn around of water. Thereby giving less time for bacteria to multiply. The storage duration will depend on the source of water and the treatment applied to the water. Systems generally require suitable filtration such as UV filters and/or carbon filters and treatment. A method of providing mains water back-up is also required for when supply does not meet demand.
